Cedar & Alder Baking Planks

We recommended that the shallow cooking surface be rubbed with your choice of cooking oil.  Over time you may find that the amount needed will decrease, as the plank will have absorbed some oil.
Your Baking Plank may be cleaned with water & dish soap (no special cleaning solutions are needed).  The bolts are used to keep the plank from splitting, should a crack appear.  If this happens, simply tighten the bolts.  We strongly suggest you periodically check the tightness of the bolts.  Tighten with a 7/16 inch socket driver;  including after your first meal on your plank.

Cooking times vary depending upon the amount of food on the plank and the thickness of your fillets.  Do not soak in liquids.  Whatever the stated cooking time,  place your plank in the upper level of the oven.  Preheat the plank and oven together without your meal on your plank yet.  This product is a one-of-a-kind, and hand made from Western Red Cedar; therefore it is a flammable product, please don’t exceed 375º F while baking your meal.  And if you must broil in the oven in your recipe, stay close and crack the oven door open.  This should only be done in short periods; less than a couple minutes.  Baking on a plank will take a bit longer than a metal sheet or rack, so account for that, this all but prevents food from drying out and tasting over cooked.

If you clean your Baking Plank while it's still warm, you will have hardly any problems.

Cedar Grilling Planks

Cedar Grilling Planks are the only product that you need to soak in water, wine, or juice for 30-60 minutes before grilling.  This prevents the planks from catching fire while grilling.  But if you were to soak a plank for a few hours you would get steam not added flavor.  You could re-use the overly soaked plank after allowing it to dry and then soak it for under one hour the next time.

Shellfish that takes very little time to grill can be enjoyed while you reload the same plank(s) with more  appetizers or the main course.  You will want to plate the food from the grill or you could make a mess with partially burnt planks on a counter.  Then just toss the empty, used plank in a fire, or get it wet before disposing in the trash can.

Remember— Baking Planks & Grilling Planks make excellent gifts
for anyone who enjoys cooking or entertaining!
